The 10 Best Tennis Clubs in San Francisco (2026)
This list ranks San Francisco tennis clubs and instructors using Google review data, updated for 2026. Rankings are computed with a Bayesian-style score that balances each business’s average rating with the number of reviews, so a well-rated place with many reviews ranks higher than a lightly reviewed outlier. San Francisco’s compact neighborhoods offer a mix of public courts, private instruction and club programs, and this guide aims to point players toward options across the city whether you’re learning, drilling or just getting back on court.
This ranking is computed from Google reviews (our method). Listings marked Partner are paid advertising spots: they sit alongside the ranking without changing its order.

Frequently asked questions
How should I choose a tennis club or instructor in San Francisco?
Start by matching your goals—group lessons, private coaching, drop-in courts or competitive training—and check recent reviews for consistency. Consider location, available court surfaces, typical schedule and whether the site or coach works with your level.
What typical costs should I expect for lessons or club access?
Prices vary widely depending on private versus group lessons, length of session and facility type; municipal courts and group classes are usually less expensive than private instruction or private clubs. Ask for a session breakdown and any membership or court-fee details before committing.
What should I check before hiring an instructor?
Confirm the instructor’s experience with players at your level, lesson format, cancellation policy and whether they carry liability insurance. Request a trial lesson or short package to evaluate teaching style and compatibility before booking multiple sessions.
How is this ranking built and updated?
