The 10 Best Comedy Clubs in San Francisco (2026)
San Francisco’s live comedy scene spans intimate neighborhood rooms and larger theater stages, and this list reflects what locals and visitors have been rating most recently. Our 2026 ranking is built from Google review data using a Bayesian-weighted score that balances a venue’s average rating with its number of reviews, so places with both strong scores and substantial feedback rise to the top. The dataset was refreshed in 2026 to capture current trends across the city. Whether you’re hunting for an open-mic night or planning an evening out, these are the comedy-oriented venues San Franciscans rate highly.
This ranking is computed from Google reviews (our method). Listings marked Partner are paid advertising spots: they sit alongside the ranking without changing its order.

Frequently asked questions
How was this ranking compiled?
This list is built from Google review data and uses a Bayesian-weighted approach that balances a venue’s average rating with its number of reviews. That method prevents very small sample sizes from disproportionately affecting the ranking while still rewarding consistently high scores.
What should I check before attending a comedy show?
Look for current showtimes, ticket availability, age restrictions, and the venue’s late-entry or seating policies. Also check accessibility details and recommended arrival times to avoid missing the performance.
How much do comedy club tickets typically cost?
Ticket prices vary widely depending on the venue, the performer, and whether food or drinks are included; some nights are free or pay-what-you-can while headliner shows cost more. Always check the venue’s official site or ticketing page for accurate pricing and any fees.
When should I contact a comedy venue about a private event or performing?
Reach out well in advance to confirm availability, capacity, technical requirements, and any deposits or contracts the venue requires. For performer inquiries, provide your experience, typical run time, and technical needs so the venue can evaluate fit and scheduling.
