The 10 Best Pool Builders in San Francisco (2026)
In a city where yards are compact, hillside sites are common and permitting is part of the project timeline, choosing the right pool builder in San Francisco requires local knowledge. This list ranks the top pool builders and related services based on Google review data, using a Bayesian weighting of average rating and review count, updated in 2026. We included contractors, repair services and public pools that appear in Google results for the area; selections reflect both high ratings and substantial review volume. Think of this guide as a starting point for research rather than a substitute for on-site quotes and permit checks.
This ranking is computed from Google reviews (our method). Listings marked Partner are paid advertising spots: they sit alongside the ranking without changing its order.

Frequently asked questions
How should I choose a pool builder in San Francisco?
Look for contractors with proper licensing and insurance, clear written estimates, and a portfolio of completed projects. Pay attention to local experience—builders familiar with Bay Area site conditions and permitting will be better prepared for typical urban and hillside challenges.
What does it typically cost to build a pool in this area?
Costs vary widely depending on size, materials, site conditions, landscaping, and permit requirements. Get several detailed, itemized bids so you can compare scope, timeline, and included services rather than relying on a single headline price.
What should I check before hiring a pool contractor?
Verify license numbers and insurance, ask for references or recent project photos, and confirm who will handle permits and inspections. Also look for clear contract terms on timelines, change orders, warranties, and payment schedules.
