Frequently asked questions
How should I choose a hardwood floor refinishing company in San Francisco?
Look at recent customer reviews, the number of reviews, and how the company responds to feedback. Ask for written estimates that list scope, materials, and timeline, and confirm insurance and any required licenses before committing.
What should I check before hiring a refinisher?
Verify proof of insurance and ask for references or recent project photos so you can judge finish quality. Also confirm dust control measures, the type of finish they recommend, and a clear schedule for work and any follow-up.
How much does hardwood floor refinishing typically cost?
Costs vary widely depending on floor size, condition, number of coats, and finish type, so expect estimates to differ. Get multiple written quotes and compare what each includes—sanding, repairs, finishing coats, and cleanup—rather than focusing on price alone.
How was this ranking created and updated for 2026?
The list is derived from Google review data and uses a Bayesian-style approach that weights average rating by the number of reviews, so high scores with meaningful review counts rank higher. It was refreshed for 2026 to reflect current Google ratings and review totals.
